We apply the same technical standards as in projects for institutions such as the Filmoteca de Catalunya or the CSIC, to family films and archive collections alike.

Film digitization requires a radically different process from video. Each frame is captured individually with a specialized scanner, ensuring the highest resolution and color fidelity the original film allows.

Our lab in Barcelona handles every amateur and professional film format, from family Super 8 reels to 35mm archive rolls. Each project gets individual attention, adapting the process to the condition and type of film.

We deliver professional digital formats, including ProRes and DPX for professional use, plus high-quality MP4 for home use.

We scan frame by frame and get resolutions of up to true 4K. The result depends on the condition of the original film, but frame-by-frame capture guarantees the best possible quality.

Frame-by-frame scanning. Unlike projection telecine, each frame is captured individually, with higher resolution, better color and no projector flicker.

High-quality MP4 for home viewing, and ProRes or DPX for professional and archive use. Also MOV, AVI, H264 and H265. Delivery is by secure download or on a new drive or USB stick.

We don't charge by the metre. Price depends on the format and the running time of the film, in price bands. Current prices are on the film rates page at videoconversion.es, VAT included.

We assess each case individually. Film with early-stage vinegar syndrome can be digitized with special precautions. In advanced stages, recovery may be partial. Contact us for a free assessment.

Yes. We work with the Filmoteca de Catalunya, the National Library of Catalonia and other institutions on film heritage preservation projects. We offer custom quotes for institutional collections.
